Aim:
The general purpose is to give theoretical as well as practical knowledge in technology for positioning in combination with GIS. These types of applications are often called realtime-GISā?Ts. After the course the student is expected to
- be familiar with technology for positioning used in support systems for traffic, transportation and telecommunication
- be able to describe the function and sources of errors for satellite positioning
- have practical skills in using hand computers and simpler GPS-equipment
- be familiar with the design of a realtime-GIS and be able to evaluate advantages and drawbacks
- be able to develop simpler applications for realtime-GIS based on a specifacation of requirements
- have improved skills in projectbased team work
