Course contents:
The course deals with solid wood in detail from a physical, chemical and mechanical point of view. Less impetus is put on textiles, cloth, mattresses and other products in the wood manufacturing industry but the student will nonetheless become familiar with such items. Solid mechanics for furniture is dealt with by use of the so called displacement method, which method could be used for non-determined frames and other more complicated structures.

Course literature:
Kollman/Côté. "Wood Science and Technology, volume 1," (in English) and parts of Gustafsson S.I. "Träteknik".

Examination:
One written examination
