Aim:
The course should give different perspectives on actual environmental problems as well as Swedish environmental and nature management. The student should, furthermore, get training in literature studies within the field of environmental management.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Accepted to the educational program of biology with participation of Chemistry 1 (20p), courses of 40p according Biology 1 and 2 (or equivalent).
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
The course contains lectures, compulsory studytrips and work in smaller seminargroups. Furthermore, the student is requested to critically review a few scientific articles within the subjects of the course, and present to the group. The course is examined through a written exam and oral presentations of the article reviews.

Course contents:
The course looks at and discusses how we use some important natural resources and which environmental problems they cause. Environmental problems such as acidification, eutrophication and reduction in biodiversity are discussed both locally and regionally. Legal, political and economical aspects are briefly touched upon.
