Aim:
The course should give different perspectives on actual environmental problems as well as Swedish environmental and nature management. The student should, furthermore, get training in literature studies within the field of environmental management.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Accepted to the educational program of biology with participation of Chemistry 1 (20p), courses of 40p according Biology 1 and 2 (or equivalent).

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
The course contains lectures, seminörs, studytrips and excursions. Furthermore, the student is requested to critically review scientific articles within the subject. The course is examined through active participation in seminars and oral and written reports.

Course contents:
The course focuses on the use of important natural resources and the environmental problems connected with this. Environmental problems like global warming, acidification, eutrophication and reduction in biodiversity are discussed both nationally and internationally. The national and international communitie´s way of handling environmental issues are briefly touched upon.
