Aim:
To give knowledge of the general theory for statistical inference and the ability to use statistical models and methods.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
The courses NMAB 06, NMAC 12, and NMAC 02 or comparable courses.

Organisation:
Mainly individual studies. Obligatory projects are included.

Course contents:
Properties of random samples. Principles of data reduction. Point estimation. Hypothesis testing and methods of finding tests. Interval estimation; construction and evaluation of intervals. Decision theory.
