Aim:
The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge of genetics. After completing the course the student will be able to:
  • describe the stucture and funktion of chromosemes
  • give an account of mechanisms for mitos, meios and life cycles of cells
  • describe the molucular basis of heredity
  • give an account of the Hardy-Weinberger law


  • Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
    Biochemistry

    Organisation:
    The course includes lectures, laboratory work, group work, calculation exercices and seminars.

    Course contents:
    Genetic principles. Mechanisms for mitosis and meosis and life cycles. Molecular basis of heredity. The structure and function of chromosomes. Chromosome mapping. Mutations. Recombination. Populations as genetic systems. Hardy-Wienberg law
