Aim:
After taking the course the student should know how to find information from different sources, what forms there normally are for the information and what structures the sources can be expected to have. The student should also be able
to present information as a short written report. The student should also have basic knowledge of the problem based learning model and basic skill in this method of study.

Course contents:
The process of seeking information (search - examine - select) Different sources for information such as real and virtual libraries and databases. Critical evaluation of web resources and comparisons to library recources. The aim of the programme, the role and knowledge requirements of the engineer/information technologist Computer use: word processing, communications, search for knowledge. Written presentations, especially reports. Learning theoretical
foundations for PBL, practical skill in PBL.
