Aim:
The aim of the course is to provide basic education in physics, tailored for further university studies in science and technology.

Organisation:
Teaching consists of lectures, problem solving and laboratory work.
|
|
Course contents:
Mechanics: momentum, impulse, kinematics in two dimensions, mechanical oscillations and Newton's law of universal gravitation.
- Electricity: electric and magnetic fields, induction.
- Waves: mechanical and electromagnetic waves, resonance, diffraction and interference.
- Atomic physics: the Bohr model, absorption and emission, quantisation of energy and the photon.
- Nuclear physics: nucleon, radioactivity, ionizing radiation, fission, fusion and equivalence of matter and energy.
