Aim:
The course aims to give an introduction to the field of electromagnetics necessary for further studies in physics.

Organisation:
The content of the course is presented at lectures and problems will be solved which demands the use and the understanding of the theory. Several laborations are included in the course. These are introduced at special lectures. Physical seminars are also included (see NFYA56)

Course contents:
Electrostatics: Electric Field Intensity, Coulomb's law, Potential, Gauss's law, Poisson's and Laplace's Equations, Capacitance, Dielectrics, Electrics Dipole, Polarisation. Magnetostatics: Magnetic Flux Density, Biot-Savart law, Ampere's Circuital law, Vector Magnetic Potential, Magnetic Dipole, Magnetisation, Magnetic Materials, Magnetic Circuits. Time-Varying Electromagnetic Fields: Induction, Faraday's law, Inductance. Alternating-currents. The different parts of the course are presented as specific applications of Maxwell's equations.
