Aim:
The aims of this course is that the student will attain in-depth knowledge about an individually chosen topic in the same areas. Having successfully completed this course, the student is expected to:
- have an in-depth knowledge about a selected topic in ecology or environmental studies
- be able to convey in-depth knowledge about the large-scale trends in the area selected for in-depth studies.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Knowledge in ecological methodology and theory (structure and dynamics of populations, ecological communities and ecosystems)
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
The course is based on regular seminars with thorough discussions of selected literature. Furthermore, students are requested to produce a written report on a chosen topic in ecology or environmental science. This report is also presented orally.

Course contents:
In-depth studies in one offered topic within ecology or environmental science, for example: Weed ecology; Population ecology: demography and interactions; Treatment wetland ecology.

Course literature:
Selected literature, books and scientific review articles, on an individually chosen topic within ecology or environmental studies. Selected literature on an individually chosen topic.
