Aim:
The aim of the course is to introduce the participants to the field of entrepreneurship and to inspire them to act entrepreneurial in the future in large or small, new or established firms. It is considered especially important that participants develop an understanding for the entrepreneurial process as a whole, its characteristics in different types of firms and the interrelatedness between the entrepreneur, the organisation and the environment. We put a particular focus on the problems of young and newly established businesses.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
40 academic credit points.

Organisation:
The course is organised around a series of lectures and seminars. The theories of entrepreneurship are mixed with, and illustrated by, cases and the experiences of our guest lecturers. Cases and project work further support learning.

Course contents:
-Different definitions and perspectives of entrepreneurship: small firms, new firms, establishment of new ventures in established firms and entrepreneurship and society. - The entrepreneurial process: identification and valuation of business opportunities and the realisation of business opportunities in different types of firms (large/small, established/new) - The business platform as an analytical tool - The entrepreneur and the environment: the entrepreneur as an invidivual, the importance of networks etc.

- Klofsten, M. (1998): "Affärsplattformen. Entreprenören och företagets första år". SNS Förlag, Stockholm. - Collection of research papers. - Other literature will be included after discussions between teachers and participants

Project work with oral and written presentation
