Aim:
The objective of the course is to give the student knowledge of environmental impact assessment (EIA), both in theory and in practise. Contents, requirements and when an EIA should be presented are vital questions. Legislation and application of EIA are discussed.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
TFMJ12/TKMJ12 Environmental Science and TFMJ09/TKMJ09 Environmental Technology preferred but not compulsory.

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Supplementary courses:
TKMJ05, Environmentally Sustainable Materials, TKMJ06 Environmental Management Strategies, TKMJ07 Life Cycle Assessment and Ecodesign.

Organisation:
The course includes lectures, seminars and assignments.

Course contents:
Construction of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). EIA as a process and/or a product. EIA and national planning. The citizens possibilities to influence. How to review an EIA. Decision-makers and citizens and their use of an EIA.

Course literature:
Compendium for seminars available at Bokakademien. A list of useful literature will also be presented.

Examination:
Approved assignments. Approved seminars.
