Aim:
After the course the student have obtained a deeper understanding of a specific application in the area of Images and Graphics. The application is studied by means of a project, after which the student should have made a practical implementation of a solution method and should be able to describe its theoretical background, structure, and limitations. The student shall also be able to demonstrate the ability to plan and to perform a project.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Courses within the program profiles DAG (D-program) or SBB (Y-program), for instance Images and Graphics, Image Analysis, Multidimensional Signal Analysis, Signal and Image Processing, Computer Vision, Image and Audio Coding, Neural Networks and Learning Systems, Medical Image Analysis, Computer Graphics, Oral and Written Communication

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
The course has a catalogue with projects provided by the different research groups within the field. Each project has a certain size in terms of students which can carry out the project. During an inital semiar, the students form groups around the projects selected from the catalogue. Each project is presented both in the form of a report and an oral presentation. In order to carry out a certain project, the student must have obtained suitable background knowledge from other courses in the area.

Course contents:
Reserach and application related projects within the field of image analysis, computer vision, computer graphics, image coding, and neural networks.

Specific for each project.

Examination:
One report and one oral presentation.

In order to pass, each project group should have handed in a written report, including source code of developed software, and recieved a pass on these documents. Furthermore, each project group must produce demonstration materials which is presented orally, and also participate activly in the presentations of other groups. Each group is given the grade pass or failed. Students who have passed the course TSBB51 Images and Graphics project course, CDIO, are cannot participate in this course.
