| Aim: The goal is that the student shall come in close contact with research work and participate in an ongoing research or development project. The student be responsible for a project that constitutes a part of a larger research project. This gives the opportunity to acquire a deeper understanding and knowledge within a chosen area of manufacturing/manufacturing systems. The student will also obtain knowledge and experience from areas such as research methodology, research methods and research project management etc. |

| Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered) TMPS06 Manufacturing Systems Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding. |

| Organisation: The student shall choose one of the different projects that are offered. The student will then particpate in an ongoing research project under supervision of and in collaboration with a researcher or senior research student. The education and teaching will mainly be in the form of literature seminars. The supervisor is responsible for these seminars. The students can work in groups of three to six persons. The nature of the research is depending on the project and research task. It can be very practical and experimental as well as more theoretical. |

| Course contents: The course starts with an introduction to research project management and to research methodology and methods. This is succeeded by studies of subjects and areas that are specific to the chosen research project. These studies are adapted to the interests and requirements of the specific students. |
