Aim:
The aim of the course is to give the students a basic knowledge about concepts and relations in classical mechanics and to lead to an ability to solve problems independently.

Organisation:
The content of the course is presented in the form of lectures. Important concepts are illustrated by simple class room demonstrations. Solutions of selected problems will also be presented. Physical seminars are included. A number of experimental assignments are included in the course. The experimental work is preceded by a theoretical lecture.

Course contents:
Vectors applied to forces and kinematics. Newton's laws. Relative motion. Work and energy. Dynamics of single particles and particle systems. Rigid body dynamics. Oscillatory motion. Special theory of relativity. Gravitation. Basic statistical models. Error sources and propagation of errors. Dimension analysis.
