Aim:
The aim of the course is to give advanced knowledge in modern organic synthesis:
- Synthesis design
- Diastereoselectivity in synthesis
- Cycloadditions
- Radical reactions
- Organometallic chemistry
- Synthesis of carbocyclic systems
- Total synthesis
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- account for synthesis design
- use protecting groups
- apply diastereoselectivity in synthesis
- apply formation of carbon-carbon bonds via enolates and organometallic reagents
- account for asymmetric synthesis
- explain synthesis of carbocyclic and heterocyclic systems
- present new synthesis methodology and total synthesis

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Organic Synthesis
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.
|
|
Organisation:
The education includes lectures, seminars and laboratory work.
|
|
Course contents:
The course consists of advanced methods in organig synthesis including protecting groups, transformations of functional groups and formation of carbon-carbon bonds. The advanced knowledge will be applied on total synthesis from recent publications in organic chemistry journals. Laboration projects in organic synthesis.
