/Avancerad organisk syntes/

For:   KOS

Prel. scheduled hours: 83
Rec. self-study hours: 237

  Area of Education: Science

Main field of studies: Chemsitry

  Advancement level (G1, G2, A): A

Aim:
The aim of the course is to give advanced knowledge in modern organic synthesis:
  • Synthesis design
  • Diastereoselectivity in synthesis
  • Cycloadditions
  • Radical reactions
  • Organometallic chemistry
  • Synthesis of carbocyclic systems
  • Total synthesis
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
  • account for synthesis design
  • use protecting groups
  • apply diastereoselectivity in synthesis
  • apply formation of carbon-carbon bonds via enolates and organometallic reagents
  • account for asymmetric synthesis
  • explain synthesis of carbocyclic and heterocyclic systems
  • present new synthesis methodology and total synthesis

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Organic Synthesis

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.
