Aim:
To gain basic knowledge of models for applied and theoretical problems in ecology. To learn the three stages (i) mathematical formulation of a model from verbal description of known experimental relations, (ii) mathematical analysis of a model, and (iii) interpretation of the mathematical analysis in the context of the experimental knowledge.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
BSc in Ecology

Organisation:
Lectures, seminars, and projects.

Course contents:
Basic MATLAB. Basic Excel programming. Discrete and continuous models. Deterministic and stochastic models. Modern presentation techniques.
