Aim:
After completion of courses Botany 1 and Botany 2 the student have acquired knowledge of the structure, systematics, plant evolution and physiology of plants. In addition, the student have carried out an independent work by planning, executing and presenting a small investigation.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
General Chemistry ,20 points and Biology, 20 points (Cell Biology, Genetics, and Microbiology), or equivalent.
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
Lectures, laboratory work, seminars and also an individually project, to train to perform a scientific investigation.

Course contents:
This course includes a survey of the most important groups of algae and the Kingdom Fungi. Photosynthesis, growth and development are dealt with. This course includes applied botany in fields such as agriculture, forestry, and gardening. An independent project is executed.
