Aim:
In continuum mechanics one studies the mechanical behaviour of a continuous medium. The concept of continuum mechanics therefore contains fluid as well as solid mechanics.
In this course fundamental concepts and definitions are established and studied for later use within applied fluid and solid mechanics.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Solid Mechanics, basic course. Solid Mechanics, the Finite Element Method. Mechanics of Light Structures (or corresponding courses).
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.
