Aim:
The course aims at providing an introduction to the interdisciplinary field of biomedical engineering by giving a methodological survey of an engineering approach to diagnostics and therapy.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Basic skills from freshman and second academic year at LiTH.

Course contents:
Survey of the field of biomedical engineering, medical terminology
Diagnostics and therapeutics in health care, definition of diseases and well being.
Methods and techniques for physical examination, medical imaging and radiology, therapeutic intervention.
Laboratory experiment: measurement of biomedical signals (4h), measurement of respiratory and cardiovascular parameters during work load (4h).
