Aim:
The aim of the course is to give fundamental knowledge of different research areas of Medicinal Chemistry.
  • Drug discovery, design and development
  • Antibacterial agents
  • Anitviral agents
  • Anticancer agents
  • Drugs acting on the nervous systems
  • Antiulcer agents
  • Synthesis and process development of drugs


Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Approved Medicianl Chemistry 1, Organic Synthesis and Protein Chemistry and attended Advanced Organic Synthesis.

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

The education includes lectures and seminars

Course contents:
The course will give advanced knowledge of the drug discovery, design and development in different research areas like infectious diseases, anticancer agents and drugs acting on the nervous system. The course also includes synthesis and process development of drugs. The seminar part includes publications from the latest journals in Medicinal Chemistry.
