Aim:
This course gives an introduction to the fundamentals of electromagnetics, wave motion and physical optics, quantum physics and atomic, molecular and nuclear physics.

The course will be given as lectures, classroom exercises and laborations.

Course contents:
Electromagnetics: Electrostatics, magnetostatics, time-dependent electromagnetic fields. Wave dynamics: The wave equation, refraction, interference, diffraction, polarization. Atomic and molecular physics: Atomic models, the Schrödinger equation, quantum numbers, the Pauli exclusion principle, molecular orbitals, molecular bonding, energy band diagrams. Nuclear physics: Models of nuclear structure, radioactivity, fission, fusion.
