TFFY81 Advanced Project Work in Applied Physics , 4,5 ECTS credits.
/Projektlaborationer i fysik/

For:   Y   YMP

  Area of Education:

Subject area:

  Advancement level (A-D): D

Aim:
The objective is to give experience of tackling and solving a theoretical or experimental problem, of which the answer is not known beforehand, in contrast to most conventional laboratory experiments in former courses (See further course organisation)

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Former courses in physics.

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
At an introductory lecture the ongoing research at the Department och Physics and Measurement technology is presented. The attendees annouce their interest in some area(s). Researchers in these areas try to formulate minor problems that can be separated from a larger research project and under the guidance of the researcher the probleme shall be solved. The students normally work 2 together. The work gives experience of/contact with - planning and carrying out a small project - writing a report on a original work - methods of research in physics

Course contents:
Depends on project but in general - associated theory - measurement principles - evaluation of data

Course literature:
Current scientific articles.

Examination:
A written report in the form of a "scientific article"
3 p

No numbered grades; only Passed/Not passed.
