| Aim: The course gives theoretical knowledge in different methods and systems for positioning, navigation, localization, tracking and realtime-GIS. The course gives practical knowledge in positioning with GPS and development of mobile GIS applications. |

| Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered) TNK029 or TNK046 GIS (or similar) is required, TNK012 or TNK050 GIS and System Development is recommended. Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding. |

| Organisation: The course contains lectures, projects, seminars and laboratory work. The three latter are obligatory. |

| Course contents: Technology: radionavigation, GIS, GPS, GSM, electronic charts, wireless communication for positioning. Applications: navigation, positioning, LBS (location based services), fleet management, tracking, mobile GIS's, etc. System design: Applications for mobile GIS´s. |
