Aim:
The course shall provide a theoretical overview and skills in applying mathematical methods used in mechanics, wave motions, optics, quantum mechanics and solid state physics.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
First two years of the study programme in physics with at least 25 credit point completed in mathematics and physics, respectively.

Course contents:
Repetition of vector analysis. Linear partial differential equations. Separation of variables. Sturm-Liouville theory. Special functions.
