Aim:
The course should provide knowledge in biomedical imaging technologies and diagnostics and their impact on biological tissue. After passing the course the student should be able to describe, use and diffrentiate between the most common reconstruction algorithms. The student should also be able to describe and compare the different components in the image generation process and how it has impact on image quality specifying physiological processes.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
TSDT06 Signal Theory, TBME01 Biomedical Engineering, TBME02 Anatomy and Physiology, TBMT01 Biomedical Signal Processing.
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Supplementary courses:
TBMI26 Neural networks and learning systems, TBMI45 Medical image analysis.
Organisation:
The course has a strong student-centered focus with PBL as a keystone. This includes tutorial sessions, seminars, lectures, workshops and laboratory work.
Course contents:
Radio biology and radio physics. Image generation technology, X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound and microscopy. Laboratory work: X-ray imaging systems and digital medical imaging systems.
