Aim:
Developing software with international partners demands competence about the software market as well as knowledge about cultural differences. Successful partnerships have therefore to be founded on common goals, shared commitments, and mutual rewards, but also in a solid understanding of cultural differences, clear expectations about the evolution of the software industry and mutual commitment.
Evolution of the software Industry as well as issues that stimulate or affect the software industry, the software market in different countries and how to increase (practical) skills needed for effective communication are key issues we discuss in this course.
After completing the course the students shall:
- Be able to analyse, explain and take a position regarding the evolution of the market for Software industry from an inter-national perspective
- Be able to identify and give examples of the skills needed for effective communications
- Be able to analyse and determine factors of success when developing software with international parts
- To apply models and methods to analyse and identity

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Both theretical and practical knowledge in software engineering.

The course runs over the entire autumn semester.

Course contents:
The course begins with an exploration of how the large software development community has evolved and expand to in all areas e.g. health-care industry, to other high-technology sectors and from the areaâ?Ts trend-setting entertainment industry. It then moves into a specific contexts and applications and explore how key companies design international partner programs , discussing also issues such as inter-cultural and organizational issues, as well as specific regional and national cultures At the end of the course the students will participate in a poster exhibition.

To pass the seminars you must attend at least 80% of them with active participation.
The assignment is examined by a group assignment which gives grade 3. To get higher grades an individual test must also be taken.
The poster is examined by giving an oral presentation during the exhibition. |
