Aim:
The course gives knowledge about how companies can become profitable and competitive by having good logistics, i.e. efficient and effective material flows from suppliers via the focused company to the final custumers. Knowledge is given about the operative and strategic work within the different parts of the logistics system. Basic logistic concepts and models are treated, as well as how to map and analyse material flows in order to increase the effectiveness.

TEIE 09/TEIE13 Financial Control Systems,
TPPE 07 Production and Operations Management is recommended

Course contents:
The lectures treat the importance of logistics to a company´s competitiveness, by combining a good delivery service with low costs. The different parts of the logistics system is described and discussed. The different tools and models that are used in the case are introduced. The aim of the case is to map and analyse a fictive company´s materials flow, to suggest changes and to discuss the consequenses they will lead to. The solutions require mathematical calculations (with for example Excel)as well as reflecting discussions. The different exercises in the case are presented in written reports and are discussed on the seminars during the course.
