Aim:
To introduce students to the foundations of linear algebra.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Admission to the course requires, as well as general university entrance requirements, secondary school matematics E (or equivalent).

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
Lectures and problem classes.

Course contents:
Analytic geometry. Vectors. Matrix algebra. Linear systems of equations. Rank. Determinants. Linear spaces. Linear mappings. Euclidean spaces. Least square method. Eigenvalues och eigenvectors. Spectral theorem and applications: quadratic forms etc.
