Aim:
Introduction to basic probabilistic and statistical techniques and models applied in bioinformatics and computational molecular biology

A first course in probabilty theory, a first course in statistical inference

Probability and statistical inference, Poisson processes and Markov chains, Random walks, Modelling of DNA sequences, Hidden markov models, estimation and hypothesis testing in problems of bioinformatics, continuous time Markov chains, models of evolution, Jukes and Cantor
