Aim:
The course is intended to give fundamental knowledge in telecommunication theory.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Signal Processing. Mathematical Statistics is recommended.

Telecommunication channels: Coaxial cable, optical fibres, air interface.
Analog modulation: Amplitude modulation (AM), frequency modulation (FM).
Pulse code modulation: Sampling and quantization.
Digital modulation: Phase shift keying (PSK), frequency shift keying (FSK)
Error control coding: Linear block codes.
Source coding: Huffman coding, entropy, information theory.
Cellular systems: Multiplexing strategies, cell systems.
