Aim:
The students attending the course will acquire knowledge about the area of usability, the importance and meaning of and the methods for usability oriented system development, and the economic meaning of the usage of user oriented methods for system development for companies or organisations. After the course the students shall
  • Be able to analyse, explain and take a position regarding the value of the use of user centrered systems to develop IS/IT
  • Be able to identify and give examples of the consequences of to develop products that full fill usability demands.
  • To apply models and methods to calculate the costs of usability


Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Introductory courses in economics within the first three years of the curricula of Master of Science Industrial Engineering and Management programme.

Organisation:
The course consists of literature seminars, along with project work, a paper (at-home examination) and a final seminary for presentation of the project

Course contents:
The literature seminaries are strongly connected to the product development project the students execute. You, as student, are expected to read the literature, but above all to be able to discuss the literature and its practical application for your project. The seminars are therefore used to discuss the literature and to relate the literature to the projects the students work with. The project is reported as a final paper, A final individual examination is also included in form of â?ohemtenta".
