| Aim: The course aims at giving enhanced knowledge in animal behaviour, with particular emphasis on behaviour and behaviour-related problems in different applied environments, such as husbandry and zoos. Further themes are eco-ethology and human ethology. |

| Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered) Accepted to the educational program of biology with participation of Chemistry 1 (20p), courses of 40p according Biology 1 and 2 (or equivalent) with fullfilled "threshold"-demands (passed 50p with a minimum of 25p theory). Recommendation: NBIC09 Zoology is strongly recommended. Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding. |

| Organisation: Lectures, seminars, study visits and laboratory projects. |
|||
| Course contents: Basic ethological concepts, such as the genetical background of behavioural patterns, the governing mechanisms, cognition, sociobiology and eco-ethology, as well as applied ethology in husbandry and zoos, and human ethology. A number of excursions and study visits to institutions for applied ethology and zoos are made, including observation and registration of different types of behaviour in different species. |
