Aim:
Enable the student to understand the electronic and ionic transport properties of organic electronic materials, and their optical properties. Give knowledge in the structure and processing of materials for organic electronics. Enable the student to understand organic electronic devices and their integration into electronic systems.

Recommended courses are also TFYY42 Polymer Physics and TKE09 Chemistry.

Organisation:
Lectures, seminars, study visits and laboratory exercises
|

Course contents:
Transport of electrons and ions in organic systems. Statics and dynamics of excited states. Redox processes, photoinduced processes and charge transfer. Phase structure of polymeric and organic materials. Deposition and patterning of organic materials on surfaces.
Devices: Diodes, field effect transistors, photodiodes and light emitting diodes, photonics devices. Electrochemical and electrochromic devices.
Systems: Logical functions implemented in electronic and electrochemical devices. The smart pixel a minimum module for electronic systems- transistor + LED, photodiode, electrochromic device.
Laboratory exercises:
Polymeric electronic devices.
