Aim:
The aim of the course is to help students to improve their skills in writing academic and scientific English. After completing the course successfully, students are expected to be able to:
- summarise a longer text
- write a short text of an academic nature
- write a set of technical instructions
- show a good command of the grammatical structures that are commonly found in academic or technical texts
- demonstrate a command of the vocabulary that is often found in texts of an academic or technical nature

Organisation:
The course will consist of lessons and seminars in which students study and analyse written texts of an academic and scientific or technical nature in order to build awareness of the language, structures and style that is considered appropriate. Students will also be required to write and revise their own short texts as well as to give critical feedback to other students.

Course contents:
The course will approach writing from a micro perspective in order to increase studentsā?T awareness of different kinds of text structure and to practice writing with grammatical accuracy and in a manner that is suitable to the task in hand. The emphasis will be on correctness, cohesion and appropriacy of style and language. There will be a special focus on the vocabulary and grammatical structures that are commonly found in texts of an academic or scientific and technical nature.
