Aim:
The aim of the course is to give knowledge on the principles and methods of computer generation of synthetic images, animations and interactive graphical applications.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Linear algebra. Programming knowledge.

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
Lectures and lab exercises.

Course contents:
Application areas. Display units. Generation of primitives: lines, curves, filled areas. Raster graphics: frame buffer, scan conversion, color table. Twodimensional graphics: geometric transformations, window, viewport, clipping. Threedimensional graphics: object representations, geometric transformations, projection, perspective, hidden surface removal. Realism: illumination models, raytracing, radiosity. Color science. Halftoning. Visualization. Real-time animation. Collision detection.
