Aim:
After the course the student must be able to:
- Describe and model basic aerodynamic flow situations.
- Describe and model the flow around wings and airfoils at subsonic and supersonic speeds.
- Explain measurement of pressure, velocity, and temperature for aerodynamic applications.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Analysis, Algebra, Physics (thermodynamics) and Mechanics and Fluid mechanics.

Organisation:
The course is organised with lectures, laboratory exercise and project work.

Course contents:
Introduction. Basic equations, e g Navier-Stokes equations, equation of continuity, energy equation. Flow about a body. Aerodynamic characteristics of airfoils. The dynamics of viscous fluids. Incompressible and compressible flow. Airfoils in compressible flow. Boundary layer flow. Viscous effects and secondary flows.
