Aim:
To give students basic knowledge on how to design and to use DSP processors.
|

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
CPU basics, basics of digital logic design, basics of DSP algorithms.
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Course contents:
General Purpose DSP processors, ASIC DSP Processors, Difference between CPU and DSP. Numeric representation for DSP and its HW, Data path design. Memory architecture, bus, and DSP Modulo Addressing.
Instruction set design, Performance analysis, and evaluation of DSP processors. Control path design, Infinite loop based flow, interrupt, stack. Scheduling, pipeline, branch. Peripheral: SPI, I2C,
SCI, DMA. Compiler, linker, simulator, debugger, and others in development environment.
