Aim:
This course aims to result in a deeper knowledge of traffic modeling. The course focuses on the theoretical aspects of traffic modeling.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
The course consists of lectures, seminars and computer labs. At the lectures are a number of project topics and their corresponding literature presented. The major part of the course time is spent on studies of one of the project topics. The students results of these studies are presented on the seminars. The projects are made in small groups.

Course contents:
The course covers studies of models for traffic planning and forecasting, theory for, and analysis of, traffic models; methods and algorithms for practical traffic planning situations. Models of the type following types: detailed route choice models, combined models for demand and route choice, network based models for urban transportation and short term forecasting models are covered.
