Aim:
The aim of the course is to give the students a further knowledge and deeper understanding of classical mechanics.
|

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
NFYA16 Mechanics II or an equivalent course.
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
The content of the course is presented in the form of lectures. Important concepts are illustrated by simple class room demonstrations. Solutions of selected problems will also be presented during lessons. A number of experimental assignments are included in the course. The experimental work is preceded by a theoretical lecture.

Course contents:
Gravitation. Dynamics of particle systems and rigid bodies. Special theory of relativity. Introduction to analytical mechanics and calculus of variations.
