Organisation:
The course is given as a series of lectures. Labs are organized around available CAD systems for the VHDL language.
Course contents:
Studies of hardware modelling and design based on the hardware description language VHDL and CAD tools used in the industry. Different abstraction levels for hardware description together with methods for efficient design of complex digital systems using hierarchical modelling techniques. Techniques for high-level synthesis of digital systems and optimization algorithms used in CAD tools. Testing of digital systems, design for testability and built-in self-test.
