/Antennteori/

For:   COE   ED   SY   WNE

Prel. scheduled hours: 48
Rec. self-study hours: 112

  Area of Education: Technology

Main field of studies: Electrical Engineering

  Advancement level (G1, G2, A): A

Aim:
The course will provide basic knowledge of antenna theory and technology, and introduce the basic theory that underpins antenna design technology. After this course the student should
  • Be able to interpret different parameters and properties used to characterize antennas.
  • Analyse the basic antenna problems.
  • Perform and master fundamental descriptions of antenna properties.
  • Critically formulate an appropriate model and calculate properties of linear wire and linear array antennas as well as rectangular antenna.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Basic circuit theory and some knowledge of programming.

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
The course will include lectures, home assignments, laboratory report and a written exam. The course includes three computer exercises which are solved in groups of 1-2 students using MatLab
