TSBB02 Computer Vision, 5 ECTS credits.
/Datorseende/

For:   D   I   Ii   IT   Y

  Area of Education:

Subject area:

  Advancement level (A-D): D

Aim:
The course intends to give give an overview of problems and methods in computer vision and image analysis. The main issues are techniques for representation and processing of structural information and analysis of multi-dimensional signals. The methods can be used in process control and automated inspection.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Calculus, Algebra, Signal theory.

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
The cource consists of one theory part and one laboratory work. Theory will be presented in lectures. The tutorials give examples of applications of the theory and prepares for the laboratory sessions. In the laboratory sessions different processing methods are investigated and some applications are studied.

Course contents:
Theory part - Description of different problems in computer vision - Biological vision - Information representation, vectors, tensors - Hierarchical processing systems - Fourier theory for multi-dimensional functions - Quadrature filters, low-level operations - Operations on multi-dimensional data - Image enhancement - Second order operations Laboratory work - Use of hardware and software for computer vision - Two-dimensional Fourier transformations - Investigation of different operations on images - Image enhancement - Implementation of a processing operation

Course literature:
Granlund & Knutsson: "Signal Processing for Computer Vision", Kluwer Academic Publishers ISBN 0-7923-9530-1. A collection of examples. A Manual for computer laborations.

Examination:
