| Aim: The student should be able to classify and recognize an amount of organisms within important plant and animal groups. |

| Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered) Participation of Chemistry 1 (20p), biologycourses of 20p according to Biology 1 (or equivalent). | Organisation: Theoretical studies in addition to field and laboratory work. Part of the course is comprised at a biological field station. |

| Course contents: Technics and models for identification of important animals and vascular plants. A survey of important animal and plant groups. The course includes specimen collection, classification, and study of typical species belonging to varied taxa. |
