Aim:
The aim of this course is that the student will attain in-depth knowledge about one of the offered topics in ecology or environmental science. Having successfully completed this course, the student is expected to:
  • have an in-depth knowledge about a selected topic in ecology or environmental science
  • be able to convey in-depth knowledge about the large-scale trends in the field selected for in-depth studies.


Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Knowledge in ecological methodology and theory (structure and dynamics of populations, ecological communities and ecosystems)

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
The course is based on regular seminars with thorough discussions of selected literature. Students are requested to submit written hand-ins before the seminars and to orally present some of the selected literature.

Course contents:
In-depth studies in one offered topic within ecology or environmental science, for example: Insect ecology; Population ecology; Treatment wetland ecology. Topics offered may vary from year to year.

Course literature:
Selected literature - books and/or scientific review articles - on one of the offered topics in ecology or environmental science.

Examination:
Individual presentation and seminar participation
6 ECTS
 
Grades are given as â?~Failâ?T or â?~Passâ?T
