Aim:
The course is intended to meet industry's requirements for engineers with knowledge in the quality field. The aim is to familiarise students with quality philosophy and basics of quality technology and management. After completing the course the student will be able to use the most common quality principles tools and methods for continuous improvement efforts.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Basic knowledge in statistics.
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Lectures: 16 hrs; Seminars: 16 hrs. Laboratory work 4 hrs

Course contents:
Fundamentals of TQM, Statistical Process Control, Capability studies, Design of experiments, methods for customer-oriented product development, Reliability, Quality management systems: ISO 9000.
