Aim:
The main objective is for students to develop knowledge about and understanding of the range of what collaborative design entails, from the situation of being and individual expert designer to the situation of facilitator of co-creative processes. With the increased rate of digitalization and technology permeating the everyday, the possibilities for and the use of codesign also is expanding.
After the completion of the course the student shall be able to:
  • Describe the variation and history of approaches to codesign
  • Analyze and criticize a design project and its tools from different codesign perspectives
  • Argue for how a specific codesign approach is supported by specific tools in a design task they are currently engaged in
  • Relate their personal ambitions as designers to codesign and identify personal development in relationship to this
  • Plan and manage codesign approaches and processes, selecting appropriate tools


Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Three years of completed university studies. Admission to masterâ?Ts programme in Design. Basic proficiency in design.

Organisation:
The course is organized around practical workshops, coaching seminars, and supporting lectures and literature seminars. Learning is coordinated with courses that are given in parallell, in order to allow for constructive and reflective learning loops.

Course contents:
Exercising codesign tools and techniques, developing technology and material supporting co-design processes, history of codesign approaches, planning and preparing codesign processes

The final grade is computed from the assignment grades, weighted according to their hp sizes.
