Aim:
To gain fundamental knowledge on methods for studying the structure and function of cells and tissues.
|

Organisation:
The course consists of lectures, practical exercises on the basis of "problem-based learning" as well as a theoretical project and seminars.
|

Course contents:
Tissue and cell preparation for microscopy: fixation, embedding, cutting, mounting, and staining. Biological markers: immunohistochemical methods. Fluorometry, cytometry and flow cytometry. Cell separation: centrifugation. Chemoluminiscence.
Electron microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, video microscopy, ratio imaging and confocal microscopy: construction and function of the equipment. Methods for measuring diffusion and aggregation in cells.
