Aim:
This course aims to give deeper theoretical knowledge as well as practical knowledge in genomics. Techniques for studying the gene expression of an organisms complete genome will be covered theoretically as well as practically, and analysis of genome data collected during the practical part will be part of the course. In addition scientific litterature will be discussed.
Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.
Organisation:
The course has one theoretic and one practical part. The theoretic part will include exercises in data analysis and discussions of scientific papers on genomics. In the practical part the student will prepare RNA to study gene expression in an organism with "DNA-array" or "oligonucleotide chip" technology.
Course contents:
Genome sequencing, gene expression on a genome level, applications of genome data, evolutionary genetics from a genome perspective.
Course literature:
Scientific litterature will be provided during the course.
