Aim:
The aim is to give profound knowledge about aquatic ecosystem's structure and function, the interplay between biological and non-biological components in inlandwater as well as certain species/types-notice about waterplants an -animals.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Accepted to the educational program of biology with participation of Chemistry 1 (20p), courses of 40p according Biology 1 and 2 (or equivalent) with fullfilled "threshold"-demands (passed 50p with a minimum of 25p theory). NBIB10 Floristics & Faunistics 5p or equivalent must be passed.

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
Lectures, seminars, laboratory work and excursions. Seminars, laboratory work and excursions are compulsory. The work at the laboratory and in the field exists foremost in form of independent teamstudies.

Course contents:
Physical and chemical conditions in inlandwater (both lakes and running water) and how those interplays with eachother and with plants and animals. Different laketypes incl the processes that lead to that they are characterized of different plants and animals. The lakes' development. The meaning of a drainage area for a lake's properties. Running water.
